PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Accompaniment of one to expert English, German, Italian and Greek speaking guides. Any other language can be arranged upon request.
All excursion details (point of departure, exact timetable, etc) will be sent to you either by mail or by any other way requested, at least 2 days in advance.

Monolithos castle

An itinerary within the nature of Monolithos; a village with stone-built houses and picturesque lanes. The route spans around the imposing chivalric castle that stands on a steep. The view from the castle is so exceptional; leaving one speechless. Following, we will get to know some of the locals and taste the delicious, authentic cuisine of the area. Finally, in Glyfada area, the adventure goes on as we follow a forest path that leads to a hidden, solitary beach. Then, swimming in the crystal clean water with the islands of Chalki and Alimia so close on sight… A truly memorable experience.

Village tradition

In Apollona, the village of Apollo, we will have the chance to experience the real island hospitality, have a hands-on cooking lesson given by a local lady, taste authentic food and wine, make our own wax-ointment with the local olive oil and bee wax, learn about the ancient and modern history of the village, while being guided to the unique folklore museum. The -19th century- church of the village, built on the ruins of an ancient temple, is also of a special interest. Lastly at the traditional tavern we are going to taste authentic local dishes, some of them made by our own hands in the traditional way.

Aethon Valley

Departing from the premises, walkers get to see the unique rhodian little pony – one of the two miniature – horse breeds in the world. Moving on, walkers hike through the lush valley of Aethon with running waters and long living willows and sycamore trees. A plant species of particular interest there is the endemic oriental sweetgum tree, whil ethe river is home to another endemic species, the Gizani fish, known for its extraordinary surviving skills. The dazzling scent of orange trees and aromatic herbs will accompany the path to the next stop, the Chapel of Virgin Mary. There, participants are welcome to engage in discussion with the guide of the walk, who offers information and insight on the history of this area.

Kleovoulos Footprints

Departing from Vliha bay, the path we follow – awash with aromatic plants and herbs – leads to the ancient polis of Lindos, there lies the tomb of Kleovoulos the Lindian, one of the seven wise men in antiquity. At this spot the ancinet castle of Lindos can be admired from a unique perspective. Next on our way, carved within the rocks, a smal church of Virgin Mary with frescos dating back to the 12th century appears close to an old windmill, in the middle of wild fields. On the way back to Vliha bay, we will admire the exceptional rocky landscape – where rare species of kestrels hole up – facing the big bright blue sea.

Top of Akramitis

Hikers set off on a hiking adventure to the second highest mountain peak of the island from a forest path through the lush vegetation of perennial cypress trees and across stretches dotted with low bush aromatic plants and multihued blooms. Arriving at the top, we will enjoy the incredible views of the lush forest that goes out to the west coat with background the islands of Halki and Alimia. On this wilderness national park, as identified by the NATURA 2000 Network of Nature Protection Areas, with alternating landscapes and images of pristine countryside and natural beauty, we stop at the church of Saint John and at the Den of Spies, refuge of the resistance during the Second World War. The arrival in the village Monolithos will give us the opportunity to taste the local cuisine, and after a stroll withing the village, we take the road back.
